Data Protection Policy

Preamble

The Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation places great importance on protecting the personal data of website users, donors, partners, and researchers who interact with it. This policy explains how and why their data is processed, in accordance with the amended French Data Protection Act of January 6, 1978, and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016 (GDPR).
Personal data is any information that allows for the direct or indirect identification of a natural person (name, email address, phone number, IP address, etc.).

Data Collected

Depending on the nature of the relationship with the Foundation, the following categories of data may be collected:

  • Identification information: last name, first name, title, mailing address, email address, phone number
  • Professional information: position, organization, affiliated laboratory
  • Donation information: amount, date, donation reference, and contact information needed to issue a tax receipt (bank information itself is processed directly by the payment platform; see the “Special Case of Donations” section)
  • Data from contact forms: subject of the request, message
  • Connection and browsing data: IP address, dates and times of visits, pages viewed, cookies (see the relevant section)

Fields marked as required on the website's forms must be filled out for the request to be processed; the other fields are optional.

When processing is based on consent, that consent may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing carried out prior to such withdrawal.

Special Case of Donations

The collection and management of donations made to the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation are handled using Eudonet, a donor relationship management solution. In this context:

  • Eudonet SAS acts as a subcontractor for the technical management of the donor database and the donation form;
  • The Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation is the data controller for the data collected in this manner (name, amount, and contact information necessary for issuing the tax receipt and managing the donor relationship).

This data is processed in accordance with the same security and retention safeguards as the other data described in this policy.

Recipients of the Data

The data collected is intended for:

  • to authorized staff of the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation, within the scope of their duties;
  • to Eudonet SAS, a subcontractor responsible for the technical management of the donation platform (see “Special Case of Donations”);
  • at the University of Strasbourg, as the host of the fondation-lehn.fr website;
  • where applicable, to administrative or judicial authorities, upon request and within the limits provided by law.

No data is sold or disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes. Service providers working on behalf of the Foundation are subject to contractual obligations regarding confidentiality and security.

Droits des personnes

Conformément au RGPD et à la loi Informatique et Libertés, toute personne dispose, sur les données la concernant, des droits suivants :

  • droit d'accès ;
  • droit de rectification ;
  • droit à l'effacement (« droit à l'oubli ») ;
  • droit à la limitation du traitement ;
  • droit à la portabilité des données ;
  • droit d'opposition ;
  • droit de retirer son consentement à tout moment, lorsque le traitement en repose ;
  • droit de définir des directives relatives au sort de ses données après son décès.

Pour exercer ces droits, il suffit d'écrire à contact@fondation-lehn.fr ou par courrier à Fondation Jean-Marie Lehn, 8 allée Gaspard Monge, 67000 Strasbourg, en précisant l'objet de la demande et en joignant un justificatif d'identité si nécessaire. La Fondation s'engage à répondre dans un délai d'un mois.

Si la réponse apportée n'est pas satisfaisante, une réclamation peut être adressée à la Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) – cnil.fr – 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07.

Data Security

The Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation implements reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction:

  • secure connection to the site (HTTPS protocol);
  • Website hosting provided by the University of Strasbourg, in accordance with its own security standards;
  • Access to data is limited to authorized individuals, both within the Foundation and among its service providers;
  • Regular updates to the website and its components.
