The European Center for Quantum Sciences (CESQ) is at the heart of quantum innovation in Europe. Located in Strasbourg, it embodies excellence in multidisciplinary research, spanning physics, chemistry, materials science, photonics, and quantum computing. With a 2,600 m² facility, inaugurated in 2023, and a unique network of local, national, and European collaborations, the CESQ is a key player in the development of quantum technologies.
Quantum science and technology are currently undergoing a second revolution, building on decades of scientific and technological advances. These advances are gradually paving the way for major innovations, such as quantum computing and quantum sensing, which will profoundly transform our digital societies.
As conventional computers reach the physical limits of current technologies, our ability to manipulate, control, and assemble isolated quantum objects (atoms, photons, ions, spins) for quantum information processing could revolutionize many sectors. In particular, it could provide innovative solutions to major industrial and societal challenges, such as chemistry and sustainable development, the discovery of new drugs and materials, as well as optimization in finance and logistics.
UNESCO has designated 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Sciences and Technologies, marking a century of progress in this revolutionary field. This global event highlights the impact of quantum sciences on research, industry, and society, underscoring the need for dialogue among researchers, businesses, and citizens.
It is against this exceptional backdrop that Strasbourg will host Quantum Week 2025, from March 3 to 7, 2025—a flagship event organized by the university and the CNRS in cooperation with the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation, which will bring together the quantum community for scientific exchanges, educational initiatives, and industrial collaborations.
