Testimonials from Scholarship Recipients
Ismayil Karim | Student in the Department of Chemistry | 2024 Scholarship Recipient
“I’ve always been passionate about the natural sciences, and chemistry quickly became my favorite subject. Despite life’s challenges and the loss of one of my parents, I found the strength to persevere thanks to my family’s support.”
In 2018, I began studying chemical engineering at the Franco-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ), but I realized that my true passion lay in pure chemistry. In 2021, I enrolled at the University of Strasbourg to pursue this path. While working night shifts to pay for my studies, I managed to maintain good grades and finished my first year of my master’s program with a GPA of 15.
"I am honored to receive the Jean-Marie Lehn Foundation scholarship. This invaluable support not only allows me to focus fully on my studies without financial worries, but it also gives me great self-confidence. Knowing that I am supported by a renowned institution strengthens my determination to pursue my passion for chemistry and contribute to scientific advancements."
Antoine Beziau | Lab Leader at BASF | Former 2009 Scholar
“This scholarship allowed me to be financially independent while focusing on my studies. As a result, I was able to successfully complete my two-year master’s program and subsequently secure funding from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research to pursue a Ph.D. in the field of polymers, which I followed up with a postdoctoral fellowship in the United States.”
Thanks to these experiences, I gained the skills I needed to start my career at BASF, where I have been working since 2017. I started out in R&D, then became head of central research strategy. I subsequently moved to the business side, where I lead an applications laboratory and am responsible for technical marketing for the Home Care division in Europe. At the same time, I am active in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly for automation and personalized marketing applications.
"I am grateful for the support this scholarship has provided me; it has been a real catalyst for my career."
