Alberto Bianco and Sylviane Muller Elected to the Academia Europaea

The Academia Europaea is a European nongovernmental organization founded in 1988 that operates as an academy. Its mission is to promote excellence in European research, advise governments and international organizations on scientific matters, and advance interdisciplinary and international research.

Alberto Bianco and Sylviane Muller are among the 102 members elected to the Academia Europaea in 2020.

Alberto Bianco

Alberto Bianco, a research director in the Immunology, Immunopathology, and Therapeutic Chemistry Unit at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC) in Strasbourg, received the CNRS Silver Medal in 2019. His research focuses on the intersection of chemistry and biology. For several years now, he has been particularly interested in the biomedical applications of multifunctional carbon-based nanomaterials.

Sylviane Muller

Sylviane Muller, a distinguished researcher in immunology and therapeutic chemistry in Strasbourg, was recently elected to the European Academy of Sciences. She also received the CNRS Innovation Medal in 2014 for her discoveries regarding a molecule that helps reduce symptoms in patients with lupus, an autoimmune disease.
